Akobundu Concludes Thank You Tour To Abia Central, Pledges To Hold Open Door Representation If Elected Senator
The PDP flag bearer for Abia Central Senatorial District in 2023 general elections, Col Austin Akobundu rtd, says he will hold representation in trust for the people of Abia Central Senatorial District if elected Senator of Abia Central in next year's general election.
The Abia Central Senatorial hopeful and former Minister of State for Defence stated this on Friday at the La Escape Hotel Nnonno Ndoro during the Thank You visit to Ikwuano LGA to mark the grand finale of the tour he embarked upon in the six LGAs in Abia Central Senatorial district.
Akobundu, a former National Organising Secretary of the Peooles Democratic Party specifically thanked PDP leaders and stakeholders including card carrying members of party in Ikwuano for their support which saw him through at the party primaries and promised not to disappoint them.
He told that he recognized the role any political party can play in the emancipation of the people and appealed to the party officials who were not favoured as delegates during the last PDP primaries not to any grudge, attributing it to the challenge of the new Electoral Act.
The PDP hopeful assured the party faithful that his campaigns will be structured in a way that it will accommodate the every PDP member, adding that if elected, he will work together with his constituents who will be given the opportunity to decide on projects that will be sited for them.
"I'm only going to represent you. The office will be your own, I'm only going to be a face of this representation and hold it in trust for you". He added.
Earlier, the Deputy Director General of Akobundu Campaign Council, Elder Sam Njoku, the Ikwuano Coordinator of Akobundu Campaign Council, Rear Admiral Ralph Osondu rtd, and a former Transition Committee Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Elder Henry Nwaoha, described Col Akobundu as the most credible candidate for the Abia Central Senatorial seat, even as they appreciated the people of Ikwuano for their massive support for him over the years.
In their remarks, the Member Representing Ikwuano State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi who spoke through Hon. Chidi Johnson, the Executive Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Chief Stephen Mpamugo, the PDP Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Deacon Obioma Igwe and the Administrator of Abia State Free Home Health Care for the Elderly(Tender Loving Care), High Chief Emenike Chuks Osondu PhD assured that Ikwuano PDP and the entire people of the Council will vote massively for Akobundu in order to reciprocate the good things he has over the years done for them.
They assured the PDP Abia Central hopeful of the readiness of Ikwuano PDP to work assiduously to deliver him and all the PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections.
The PDP candidate for Abia Central used the opportunity to inaugurate members of the Austin Akobundu Council at the Ikwuano level.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated Campaign Council in Ikwuano, Barr. Ugochukwu Okeugo, Chief Dom Onwuzuruigbo and Elder Sunday Iheukwumere thanked Akobundu for the opportunity he offered them to serve in the Campaign Council and pledged to discharge their duties diligently.
Highpoint of the Thank You Visit was the administering of oaths of allegiance on the members of the inaugurated Campaign Council by a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the State, Barr. Ugochukwu Okeugo while the LGA Coordinators, members of Akobundu Campaign Council and the Leaders of Col Akobundu Youth Support Network (CAYSUN), led by Cokey Nwachukwu and Ikenna Balogu accompanied the Abia Central Senatorial hopeful to the grand finale of the Thank You tour.
