The PDP Candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District, Col. Col Austin Akobundu (Rtd), accompanied by members of his Campaign Council, paid a Condolence/Sympathy Visit to the  people of Umuadile village in Isiala Okpu Autonomous Community, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, over the death of their people who were involved in a ghastly auto crash along the Lokpa/Umuneochi axis of the Port Harcourt - Enugu Expressway.

The unfortunate event occured on the 15th of September, 2022 when a vehicle bound for Enugu conveying women from Umuadile village on their way for a traditional marriage, had a fatal accident.

6 women and their driver were reported to have died from the crash while 9 more were still hospitalized. 

The Senate hopeful for Abia Central, condoled with the community. Speaking through his Deputy Campaign Director, Elder Sam Njoku, The retired Colonel prayed for the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Campaign Coordinator for Col Akobundu campaign Council handed out the various cash donations to all the affected victims and/or their next of kin who received the gifts with deep appreciation.

When the Dike akolamba 1 of Ikwuano eventually took the floor, he informed the house that this was an indication of the form of participatory administration he intended to run, where the concerns and interest of everyone within his Constituency was carttered for.

Earlier on, he paid a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of the community, who also doubled as the Chairman of the traditional rulers council of Osisioma Ngwa, HRM Christian Iheme - The Okpu 1 of Isiala Okpu who was in grief over the  unfortunate incident that befell his community. The traditional ruler thanked the former Minister while he eulogized his unprecedented show of empathy. The Prime Minister, Chief Emmanuel Nwakanma gave a vote of Thanks after a series of appreciations by the beneficiaries.
